National learning network for employers

Find out how you can join the Supporting mentally healthy workplaces: national learning network for employers.

A new national learning network to help employers promote and support mentally healthy workplaces has been established.

The network aims to complement the range of information, advice and support available through this platform. It is jointly hosted by Scottish Government, Public Health Scotland and See Me.

Through the network you can learn what employers and others across Scotland are doing to support mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. You can also share your experiences with others in a dedicated peer learning space.

Anyone who has leadership responsibility for supporting and promoting mental health and wellbeing within their organisation is invited to join.

The network is open to all sizes of organisations across all sectors in Scotland and membership is free.

Frequency of network meetings and joining instructions

The next network meeting will be held on Thursday 14 March 2024, 9:30am to 11am on MS Teams. The theme will be ‘Severe and Enduring Mental Illness’ and how this affects people in the workplace.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear presentations from Bipolar Scotland and See Me who will discuss findings from the Scottish Mental Illness Stigma Study around workplace mental health.

Register for the meeting by visiting Eventbrite (external website).

Network meetings take place on a quarterly basis, usually by Microsoft Teams. However, we are hoping to host some face-to-face meetings in the future as part of our programme of events.

Previous network meetings have focused on the following themes:

  • mental health stigma and discrimination
  • men’s mental health
  • how to create positive and inclusive cultures around mental health and wellbeing at work

Meetings have featured spotlight sessions and panel discussions with employers and organisations who offer support for mental health, including the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and Andy’s Man Club.

Maree Todd MSP, Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, attended the most recent network meeting on 2 October 2023. Ms Todd took part in a panel Q&A session along with representatives from Business in the Community, Paragon Housing Association and Mathieson’s Bakery.
